October 20, 2009 - APsaA signs letter in support of Senator John Kerry's proposal to ensure that health plans offered in the health insurance exchanges represent the best value for consumers and taxpayers. His proposal to allow states to negotiate with plans in the exchange, rather than simply to accept all licensed health plans, will give states an important tool to control the rise of health care costs over the long term.

August 17, 2009 - Below are some materials distributed by the Legal Action Center for use in health reform Town Hall meetings in August made available by APsaA's legislative counsel Jim Pyles. He has reviewed them and believes they do a good job of making the case for expanded mental health coverage along with expanded health insurance coverage.
July 16, 2009 - APsaA signs letter to the Senate Finance committee requesting the inclusion of provisions in the Senate Finance health reform package that would expand access to health insurance for individuals in the private and public markets.

June 16, 2009 - APsaA co-signs letter urging Senators Kennedy and Enzi to oppose any amendment that would preempt or roll back state benefit laws that ensure coverage of critical services and supplies that address people's health care needs; and to support changes to the bill that would improve the development of a federal benefit standard by requiring the Medical Advisory Council to engage in a fully open, transparent, and inclusive process that ensures full engagement of consumers, patients, workers and providers.
