Summary of Recommended Actions - October 2009
In 2008, Witness Justice hosted a federal issue briefing on veterans and family safety. During the briefing discussion, there were three key areas that resonated as the starting point for national response to this concern and need that families have:
- a national education and awareness campaign regarding veterans and family safety;
- tools that families can use in their own homes and in privacy to identify triggers, and to work together to determine how the family can take preventive action; and
- community-based, trauma-informed peer programs to support both veterans and their families.
The American Psychoanalytic Association is an undersigner of this action statement in an effort to initiate a national response. |
